She will again present the thoroughbred son of Kyllachy, Arabian Gleam and said; "We are looking forward to bringing Arabian Gleam back to our local stallion showcase, meeting customers old and new and hopefully creating a bit more of a buzz about our special boy!"

Cumbria again hosts high profile Northern Stallion Showcase

The largest equine breeding event in the North, the Northern Stallion Showase, is again set to attract around 40 top class breeding stallions for the fifth annual fixture, which this year reverts to a Saturday, taking place on April 7th.

Breeders of horses and ponies from across a wide region are expected to travel to Newton Rigg College Equestrian Centre for the 2018 Northern Stallion Showcase, supported once again by Baileys Horse Feeds, at which stallions with exceptional bloodlines will include representatives of Britain’s internationally renowned native breeds, in addition to athletic, internationally successful sport horses and ponies with proven performance records and oustanding progeny. The 2017 entry included seven outstanding Connemara stallions, some of which had travelled from Ireland for the showcase.

Together these stallions offer a unique opportunity for everyone interested in the breeding of horses and ponies to view an impressive variety of potential sires from studs around the country ‘in the flesh’ and to discuss individual breeding plans for the 2018 season with the stallion owners and stud managers. Many of the stallions will be stabled on site and visitors to the Showcase will be able to view them in the stables during the lunchtime and other breaks in the day’s programme.

Confirming ongoing support for the event, Baileys Horse Feeds Marketing Manager Jane Buchan commented: ““We’re delighted to continue with our support for the Northern Stallion Showcase and will be looking forward to seeing the stallions and meeting breeders.  Events like this are invaluable to British breeders, giving them the chance to make informed choices for their mares, having seen and met the stallions themselves.”

Advance tickets to the Northern Stallion Showcase cost just £4.00 (with under-8s free) and include free parking and a programme. There will be trade stands and all-day catering.

Pam Harrison from the organising team confirmed: “There is a lot of enthusiasm and support for what is the biggest stallion showcase in the region, as it allows breeders to see and evaluate a large number of stallions without having to commit time for travelling to all the different studs around the country. There are plans to develop the event further this year, with additional temporary stabling to accommodate more stallions from further afield and the return to a Saturday date should enable more breeders to attend the Showcase this spring.”

Northern Stallion Showcase 2017 Entries Open

The annual Northern Stallion Showcase will once again welcome a wide range of exceptional breeding stallions to Cumbria in March, for what is the biggest fixture of its kind in the north.
The 2017 Showcase will take place on Sunday March 26th at Newton Rigg College Equestrian Centre, where it moved last year after two successful years in Northumberland.
Up to 40 superb stallions will be presented by stud owners from across the country and include representatives of Britain’s iconic native breeds, in addition to eyecatching sport horses and ponies with proven performance records in the major competition disciplines. Together they offer a unique opportunity for breeders to see a large number of stallions from studs around the country 'in the flesh' and to discuss their mares and breeding plans for the 2017season.
Stallion entries for the Northern Stallion Showcase, which is once again supported by Baileys Horse Feedswill formally open on January 3rd, although a number of provisional entries have already been accepted.
Spectator tickets cost just £5, with under-8s free and include free parking and programme. Many of the stallions will be stabled on site and there is the opportunity to visit the stables during the lunchtime break in the showcase programme and to talk individually to the stallion owners and stud managers. There will be trade stands and all-day catering.
Supporting the Showcase once again, Baileys Horse Feeds Marketing Manager Jane Buchan echoed the comments of many visitors to last year’s event when she said: “As long term supporters of British Breeding, we are pleased to see the variety of stallions, including representatives of our native breeds, which always generate enthusiastic interest at the Showcase. Successful breeding is about attention to detail and the Northern Stallion Showcase gives mare owners the chance not only to select the right stallion but also to discuss many other aspects of mare and youngstock husbandry.”
Pam Harrison from the organising team confirmed: “There is a lot of enthusiasm and support for what is the biggest stallion showcase in the region, as it allows breeders to see a large number of exceptional stallions without having to commit time for travelling to all the different studs around the country. We are pleased to host the Showcase at Newton Rigg, as the Equestrian Centre facilities give studs an opportunity to showcase their stallions to a large audience on one day, many of whom would potentially not otherwise find time to visit individual studs."
